writing about writing, for shame, for shame. haha
i'm writing small poems, saying things, trying to act casual enough about it so it keeps happening, so some big poem might come along, too. it's the same everywhereyou pretend you're not interested, then your quarry comes out. nothing goads a thing out into the open like impertinence, a seeming indifference.
i've been reading lots of bukowskifour novels and countless poems in the last week or so. i love his writing, the way he lays it down. he is my favorite writer, because he's such a good read, and i enjoy writing like him. imitation, influence, homage, adaptation, mimicry, call it what you like. i like his style, so i wri

You and Vocable's Infinite Playlist
Hey, guys!
It's April, the cruellest month (as if that reference hasn't already been done to death), which means NaPoWriMo and Screnzy.
Uni just finished for me and I'm free for summer break here. I've got a few writing ambitions to accomplish, like making a zine for dotdotdash's Fingerprint, writing a bunch of stuff I've planned that's been lying around, do NaPo, and generally just be productive.
The past few days are a no-go so far though, since I've spent them lazing about and playing games. (No regrets!) But, really, my sleep schedule is out of whack and I'm sleepy or tired most of the time plus having trouble focusing. Bluh.

On Feedback and Storytelling
(or, The Mass Effect of Gamma-Ray Turtles on Collaborative Marigolds)
As many of you have noticed, a new site-wide hot topic was recently posted in everyone's message center.

~tealdeerplz (https://www.deviantart.com/tealdeerplz) For those of you scared away by the teal deer or distracted by the pretty pictures, it's a serious discussion on the merits of soliciting and incorporating your audience's expectations into your works, and is well worth the read.
Those of you who've already soldiered through to the end, however, have no doubt noticed a collection of sound bites from some familiar faces, including yours truly. Last week, techgnotic (https://www.deviantart.com/techgnotic) had contacted

The recently announced changes to the core mythos of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the backlash from fans over the ending to Mass Effect 3 have ignited an incredible discussion about the rapidly evolving “collaborative” relationship between producers and consumers of videogames, movies, and similar “products.” Now it’s exploded beyond the secure borders of top news publications, gaming and entertainment websites. Looks like this long-bubbling

Prompt number seven and three quarters
Edit: So somehow this wasn't in the group journal (or in my personal journal, or any other group journal. I do not understand.) Anyway, you were meant to get this two weeks ago. Sorry! Erm. Sorry!
Think of this as a prompt without the pressure to submit.
This isn’t my traditional hammer blow. For once there are no parameters, no limitations, there is no pressure to write anything good. I don’t want to see your work, I don’t care about critique, and if you find yourself versifying about autumn or crimson tears I won’t bat an eyelid, lash, brow or even ball.
April is National Poetry Writing Month. To celebrate we a

Name Your Droppings - vol. I
Welcome to the first issue of a brand new feature series, wherein I attempt to dive deeper into some of the issues going on in and about dA.
:bulletgreen: For the very first issue, I carefully approached our great raptor queen Halatia (https://www.deviantart.com/halatia) to subtly address some questions people have always had regarding our LIT Community Volunteers. As I have just been moved from the intensive care to a regular hospital wing, I am now able to post the resuslts of our diplomatic encounter:
1. thorns (https://www.deviantart.com/thorns) recently addressed the constant fear the LIT community seems to have for it's Community Volunteers: http://thorns.deviantart.com/journal/poll/2462216/ Why

ART HISTORY: OVERVIEW OF CANADIAN ART AND ARTISTS by ATrue, journal
ART HISTORY: OVERVIEW OF CANADIAN ART AND ARTISTS
This is the first of four articles I will be writing for DistortedSmile (https://www.deviantart.com/distortedsmile)'s Art History Project. If the topic of Canadian art does not interest you, there are many more articles being released all over dA that will cover a variety of art subjects. Click the link provided above to see a schedule of when these articles are being released!
This article seeks to introduce you to a variety of works of art and several artists that you may not have realized are Canadian and recommend a few samples from various mediums. I wanted to start with this article because, while all of this is common knowledge to me, there are many people out there, even
